Modern poet, winner of National Literary Century Literary Award. It is reported that the great writer Sir Maung Thano passed away on July 1 2.

Mr. Maung Thano died at SSC Hospital in Yangon at 6:45 pm on July 12th. He was 91 years old at the time of his death.

“The teacher died of old age. It’s been five years since I can’t go much, It’s been about six years. On July 11th, around 3 o’clock in the morning, I went into shock and was taken to SSC Hospital by ambulance. I ate until that night. I still remember. On the 12th, he passed away at 6:45 p.m., unable to remember. His body will be buried on July 14 at the Reway Cemetery. “My teacher doesn’t like what they do with graves, so I will cremate them,” said poet Ne Nhat Naing, a former student of Maung Thano.

Father U Khin Maung Kalay, Master Maung Thano, His mother, Daw San Myint, was born on May 6, 1932 in Sagaing. He studied at Sagaing Government High School and Mandalay University. The funeral of writer Maung Thano will be held on Thursday, July 14th at 1:00 PM in Room 1 (C) of Yangon Rayway Cemetery. It is reported that two cars will leave from the corner of U Wisara Road and Chin Din Road in Sanchaung Township at 12:00 PM for those who want to accompany the funeral.
